About BTB
Beyond the Barre is a ballet academy located on the West Rand, dedicated to nurturing the talents of both girls and boys who aspire to pursue professional careers in dance and ballet. The academy offers comprehensive training programs designed to develop technical skills, artistic expression, and a deep understanding of ballet and dance. With experienced instructors and a supportive environment, Beyond the Barre aims to help students reach their full potential and achieve their professional dance goals.
Our ballet academy program teaches the Ballet Conservatoire method, which is based on the world-renowned Russian Vaganova training method. This method is designed to prepare and equip dancers for professional careers. We conduct yearly examinations for the Ballet Conservatoire syllabus to assess and certify the progress of our students.
Beyond the Barre (BTB) also caters to recreational dancers who can only attend classes once a week but still wish to experience the joy and discipline of learning ballet. Through the American Academy of Ballet (AAB), we offer these dancers the opportunity to progress each year via performance-styled examinations, where they can earn a lovely certificate and medal.
As a performance-based studio, BTB values learning through experience and provides ample opportunities for our dancers to perform on stage. This approach ensures that all our students, whether aspiring professionals or recreational dancers, benefit from the enriching experience of live performance.
